It is no secret that other people’s sketchbooks inspire us greatly.
After “Drawn In” was formally unwrapped and flipped through, drawing became the preferred activity in this household.
Over at HEY KUMO, we have a special affection for drawing. One of us is a designer/ illustrator, the other picks up the pen once in a while to amuse her friends.
Why should you draw?
- Because it is fun!
- Choosing your sketchbook and picking up pens and pencils are also fun.
- You get to check that you are indeed able to put pen to paper, and come up with something that somewhat resembles life.
- You get to test ideas, instead of being a perfectionist whose first idea is his best.
- The act of creation is worth celebrating.
Because most of all, it simply slows you down. You learn to see things in more detail, think about it more deeply, and ask your hand to replicate what your brain processes. The very fact that you are learning to see something differently, we believe, does wonders for your thinking abilities.
As you can see, we don’t worry too much about our drawings being lifelike. We hope that doesn’t deter you too! Have fun with drawing.
