I had some time to spare before catching a ride with Sarah, so I walked that afternoon to the Redhill Market & Food Centre and took a few photos before commencing the main task of placating the appetite. Maybe it is the festive season and most people are stuck in the Orchard shopping mess, or maybe the sky held promise of rain, or maybe it was just Sunday afternoon and the market has closed for the day, the place was a little deserted.
焱 Chicken Wings & Fried Bee Hoon is a popular stall in the food centre, it seems, since it was the only stall with a queue. The stall sells a little more than what its name suggests – a choice of fried bee hoon (rice vermicelli) or yellow noodles with a variety of side dishes including the eponymous chicken wings, Taiwanese sausage, ngoh hiang and spam.
I had the best fried bee hoon I had in a while. (But psst: be sure to speak up loud and clear about your orders. The food stall uncle “ignored” my repeated requests for a packet of mixed beehoon-noodles 米粉面.)
