We’ve always liked The Plain on Craig Road so we were very happy to hear that the same people were setting up a new café. Located a few units down from Windowsill Pies on Horne Road in the now very hip Jalan Besar area, The Bravery has just opened this week. We decided we needed a nice breakfast on Wednesday before getting vexed by the post office (who, by the way, lived up to expectations and performed the act of vexing a bit too well) and we came away very happy and well, stuffed.
We had the Beef Steak Ciabatta and the Toast (choose 2 dips from a selection of four; we took apricot and fig). For drinks, we had our usual latte and mocha. The ciabatta was superb! I was a little worried ordering this because I wasn’t sure if a meaty sandwich was a tad ambitious for 10am. Thankfully, it was so good that I pretty much polished it off. The flavour was great and the (meat) portion was generous. The fig spread for the toast was delicious, though we found the apricot a tad too tart.
The breakfast menu has a decent range, but we did mull over it for quite a while before we decided. There wasn’t anything that screamed EAT ME and there was an ingredient that we didn’t love in every dish! But we were glad that didn’t stop us in the end. So, be brave and eat.
Drinks were great. We would have stayed for another cuppa, but SingPost beckoned. Apologies for our not-too-sharp iPhone photos.
