While sourcing for our little shop, we came across plenty of talented designers and brands (so many lovely things, so little resources). One of those is ten to sen 点と線模様製作所. Rieko Oka established the studio as a solo project in 2008 and runs the one-woman studio in Otaru, Hokkaido.
Oka-san’s designs have found their way onto textiles, stationery and even washi tape. Drawing inspiration from nature, Oka-san paints flora and fauna and even the less conspicuous aspects – such as the harsh winter or the sound of rain – of her surroundings. Her designs are organic and refreshing, with (what seems to me to be) a very Japanese aesthetic.
A little plug: we have ten to sen’s range of letterpress coasters and washi tapes available in Small And Able. Do come take a look if you’re interested!
