Regina Spektor plays on our tanned shores next month! I remember that morning when I was half awake and checking if the world had exploded while I was sleeping. Then, cue quick succession of sudden wakefulness, re-re-re-reading Greenhorn’s Facebook update, checking the date, and abusing ALL CAPS for the next few messages I would type. Hell yes, I was very pleased.
Laughing With was one of the standouts from her album Far for me. It’s hard to do a “god” song without coming across as overly evangelistic, but this one strikes a fine and poignant balance. I would be very happy to hear this (and a dozen others) live.
Dance Anthem of the 80s
Ghost of Corporate Future
Consequence of Sound
This is one of her earlier songs, introduced to me by Joce way back when. This remains one of my absolute favourites. And here is a related irrelevant generalisation: I love songs with lots of lyrics, haha. Wit preferred.
We also did a little entry on Don’t Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas) from Spektor’s latest album earlier this year.
The talented songstress will play at the Esplanade Concert Hall on 22 December 2012. Tickets are still available via Sistic. I was on the site at 9am sharp the day ticket sales opened, and I only managed to get us Row N seats. We will attempt to dance our way to the front rows. Watch this space.
